Just was having some fun with the idea of Gatefold Cards I saw through Beate’s Blog, Fresh & Fun. While DH was watching play off hockey … & getting more of a work out shouting at the players, than perhaps the actual team was, I slinked off down stairs to putter with the idea. This is “suppose” to be a kichen cupboard, with those baby-lock things. I was sorta’ musing on different ideas that used a gate idea, western saloon doors, the friendly giant’s draw bridge, … I was just floating around like a butterfly from idea to idea & ended up with kitchen cabinetry.
So now we have things that swing open & I was thinking of the kind of card you could make … maybe a baby card & there ya be. Not sure what I think of it, but it gave me a bit of a guffaw, remembering my first baby & how everything had to be under lock & key & perfectly safe from anything (safety all necessary & good of course) by the day I brought by newborn home from the hospital. (so early, rediculous, unnecessary & perfectly normal).
DH HATED the little locks & so did my Mum & MIL. “THESE ARE CRAZY! How do you get into this cupboard? WHY are you locking up towels?” and then trying to explain, that ‘if the child opens the door & then slams their little finger, they could hurt themselves’. I was insane for my first child … I blame the hormone fluctuations.
Anyways that’s my take on the gatefold card. Check out SCS for some fantastic examples.
Stamp Sets: ‘Favourite Greetings’ & ‘Baby Frames’ (S.U. retired, I believe), Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Pink Passion, Yoho Yellow INKS & Texture CS. Brads. The “lock” was white CS Crimped & cut. There were some dimensionals involved. The “wood look” is just some scraps I had from those card board panels at the back of the cheap tv stands … why we kept it, I have no idea. We are pack rats, what can I say, but HEY, I used it! (And no I didn’t grow up in the depression nor did my parents, but obviously much influenced by grandparents who did. “keep it, you’ll never know when you need it”. Man, I’m trying to shake that loose … if you don’t need it give it away or throw it out. Still working on that.
